Unplasticised PVC (PVC-U) pipes and fittings are widely used for collection and evacuation of waste water without pressure intended to be buried in the ground. These are usually of large diameter, from 160 mm up to 630 mm. They can be made of compact PVC or have structured walls, i.e. foam core or twin wall with a corrugated layer.
The PVC pipes for irrigation have similar geometrical and mechanical characteristics.
Durable, cost-efficient and recyclable
PVC sewer pipes are very durable. The first PVC piping systems were installed over 80 years and most of these are still in use. The expected lifespan for underground pipes is 100 years or more. Studies from several European countries confirm that PVC sewer pipes have the lowest Total Cost of Ownership. This includes purchase, installation, use, maintenance and disposal. PVC pipes are also easily recyclable and can be recycled several times without losing their technical properties.
PVC pipes ensure safe transport of wastewater
Leaking of wastewater due to broken pipes can affect groundwater quality and the surrounding environment. PVC pipes, known for their durability and resilience, play a critical role in preventing such leakage. By ensuring a secure and long-lasting underground infrastructure, these pipes help protect our groundwater resources and maintain ecological balance.
