12 Good reasons to Specify PVC Products

on .

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) Vinyls Group has launched a new pocket sized leaflet providing 12 good reasons why PVC is hard to beat as a resource and cost-efficient material.

Many studies have confirmed the significant benefits of PVC and these are handily summarised in this concise document.  The leaflet provides supporting data which companies can use for internal briefings and to give to their customers.

The aim of the leaflet is to encourage a large group of “PVC ambassadors” who can have ready access to the key facts about PVC in their top pockets whether it be in their professional or social lives.

Long-Term Behaviour and Curves That Defy Aging…

The long-term behaviour of PVC-pipes is more long-term than originally thought. Testing PVC pipes by assessing the burst pressure curve of each composition material is a rigorous process carried out by an accredited organization. Participants at the recent ‘Pipes VII’ conference organised by the Southern African Plastics Pipe Manufacturers Association (SAPPMA) in Johannesburg were informed that this increased life expectancy will provide enhanced value and benefits for operators of sewer and water networks. Molecor win the SolVin Gold Award for PVC Innovation

During the recent K-Show in Düsseldorf, Molecor, a member of PVC4Pipes, was announced as the winner of the Gold prize in the fifth edition of the prestigious SolVin Award for PVC innovation. The prize was awarded for the development by Spanish-based Molecor of large diameter PVC-O pipes that are now available in sizes up to 630 mm.  This opens up a whole new market for corrosion-free PVC pipes which can be extended even further, since the technology to manufacture even larger sizes (up to 800mm/30”) is already available. PVC-O Pipes - The most sustainable way to deliver water

on .

The plastic pipe industry has long claimed that bi-oriented PVC-O pipe systems offer the most efficient and sustainable delivery of water.  Developed over forty years ago, these high pressure pipes are used increasingly as a replacement for ductile iron pipes.  Recent scientific evidence not only confirms the suitability of these plastic pipe systems but also underscores their sustainability and long term performance.  PVC4Pipes have reviewed these latest findings and what they could mean for water companies throughout the world.  Read more

PVC Recycling: 300 years potential lifetime for foam core pipes
