The two-day event focussed on exchanging views on a wide range of central themes such as Sustainable Development Goals and COP21, innovative value chains for sustainable process industry, regional sustainable development, carbon dioxide capture and utilisation, smart cities India and Europe and Cleantech industry – Investability – Business opportunities.
PVC4Pipes contributed to the event presenting a poster on the “CO2 Footprint of PVC Plastic Pipe Systems: an assessment based on EPDs” in Track 2 session – Regional Sustainable Development.
The poster shows that when considering all the categories of the LCA, the average environmental impact of plastic pipe systems are in general lower than of comparable other materials. The CO2 footprint, which is the best known parameter and the environmental impact in the LCA, is as well lower than of comparable other materials. The poster also highlights the commitment of PVC4Pipes members to develop new EPDs for other types of plastic pipes and fittings and to further reduce the environmental impact of plastic pipe systems.
